St. Louis Cathedral
I am not Catholic myself, but I wanted to attend a mass here while I was visiting New Orleans on vacation (I attended the Sunday morning before Memorial Day) Every pew was filled with tourists and visitors, so I would say this is a "tourist church". There were a good selection of moving hymns and there was a very good homily. The final song was "America". In the lobby there was a plaque on the wall that showed all the head priests of the congregation over the past 200 + years, very impressive. The officiating priest shook hands with everyone outside as people left. Outside, a jazz musician was playing a few verses of "America" and "How Great Thou Art" on the saxophone; very New-Orleans-y!

Great job painting a picture for our readers
If you are not a Catholic - what prompted you to visit this church
Thanks
Hi! Well, I mainly wanted to be inside the famous structure, which is such a landmark of the French Quarter. I wasn't interested in the tour, but just being inside to experience the mass was interesting.
