St. John's Church
If you are looking for stability and sanity in this ever-changing world of menu-driven worship, consider visiting St. John's Church. The sanctuary itself is manificent - Gothic architecture, beautiful stained-glass windows and the most beautifully-carved Christus Rex that I have ever seen. Worship is conducted by the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, with all its glorious rolling cadences. Fr. Dunbar doesn't mince words and doesn't mind stretching your intellect in his sermons, but he is a big teddy bear at heart. The music is amazing --- great organist/choirmaster and an amazingly large choir of adults and children. Church school is vibrant --- a third floor had to be added a few years back to accommodate growth! Lots of church-based activities for men, women and young people --- a third clergy member was just added to provide more connection for college students and young marrieds.
