A good solid bible based church.

Good and solid are good and solid words, but very subjective. Can you give us some details? what are the sermons like in both content and delivery? what is the music like? the building itself? what do you think the first thing an outsider would notice their first time there? most importantly, how does this church fulfill Jesus' command to love your enemies and serve others? thank you for coming by! I hope we hear more from you soon.

How does Snohomish Community Church fulfill Jesus’ command to love our enemies and serve others? I don’t know of specific actions by the church that have been done in the name of loving our enemies. However I’m certain that the Matthew 5 and Luke 6 passages speaking about loving our enemies have been mentioned. On the serving side, Snohomish Community Church has a benevolence fund that can assist those who are economically challenged. They have also partnered up with the Everett Gospel Mission to help out in making more room for a future project for the homeless shelter. There is the Advent Conspiracy that we have supported in the past. The church has sent many teams out on short term mission trips to Mexico, the Philippines, Haiti and Africa. There is an annual local outreach, ‘Carefest of Snohomish County’ headed up by Snohomish Community Church where, in 2010, there were 650 volunteers from 12 local churches that took on 65 service projects. During Jesus University this year the youths went door to door in Snohomish and gathered 2500 pounds of food that was donated to the Snohomish Food Bank and the youths were also involved in some service related projects about the area. There is a service ministry area where people can donate gently used household items that are stored and then given out to those in need. I suspect that there are many other areas that I’ve forgotten about where Snohomish Community Church is serving others. [Matt, we’re not on par with Lawndale from your Chicago experience.] A first time visitor might notice the guys in the bright orange vests in the parking lot waving to them and generally directing traffic, if needed. Then there is the staff of greeters inside the building welcoming both visitors and regular attendees. The service generally starts off with the worship band on stage. This can vary from a full choir to a small handful of people. The songs range from contemporary, as in feel good type of songs to traditional hymns that are more doctrinal in nature. The songs are typically related to the sermon topic for the day. In case you were curious, no fog machines are used here, for Sunday morning services. The sermon: content and delivery. The sermon is usually a part of a series where a portion of the bible is highlighted and applied to our lives. There are occasional stories woven in to help put the bible passage in light of today’s life. There is no tearful plea at the end of the sermon, often times there are some ‘next step’ type of things where we are challenged to move forward or apply this portion of the bible to our daily lives. The pastors always make themselves available for talk and prayer at the end of the service at the front of the room.
