Hyde Park Presbyterian
We are a small/medium sized Presbyterian USA Church located in Old Hyde Park in Tampa, Florida. We provide traditional worship in the sanctuary on Sundays at 11:00am and contemporary worship upstairs at 10:57am on Sundays. A short Children's Sermon is included as part of the worship service when children, 3 years old-first grade, are dismissed for Kid's Kirk. Worship is led by Senior Pastor Ken Shick, Associate Pastor Dave Baker and lay leaders. Large size print material and hearing aids are available. We have Sunday School for all ages at 9:30am each Sunday. A clean, comfortable, inviting nursery is staffed for infants and children. Parents are given a walkie talkie for easy communication from the nursery, if desired. A continental breakfast is provided upstairs every Sunday at 10:30. Our Chancel Choir and Bell Choir are led by Director Bonnie Gregory. The Praise Band is led by Contemporary Music Director, Shannon Sturtz. We have a Junior Choir led by Pam Tucker. There are many opportunities for youth to participate in activities during the week with our enthusiastic Director, Jaime Herzig. Quarterly service projects, mission trips, and weekly gatherings are well attended. We hold periodic small group Bible Study at the church and in members' homes. Fellowship opportunities are provided regularly for various age groups with activities such as picnics, talent shows, baseball, etc. HPPC attenders also love to meet and eat. Dinners, luncheons, receptions, pot-lucks, etc. are events that draw lots of participation. Retreats for men, women, youth and families are held at the Presbyterian campground, Cedarkirk, located in Lithia. Vacation Bible School, Christmas Pageants, Christmas Caroling, and Easter Egg Hunts are examples of popular activities for children as well as opportunities for 2nd-5th graders to serve as acolytes. Senior citizens enjoy monthly luncheon gatherings and outings accompanied by various activities and speakers. We are a very caring community of believers who support each other as family and reach out to serve others. Mission work is supported with monthly projects as well as trips to Bolivia and New Orleans. Examples of some of our small groups are: Presbyterian Women's Circle, Mini-Women's Beth Moore Study, Thursday Men's Prayer and Fellowship Breakfast, Men's Friday Morning Study, Downtown Professionals Fellowship, He-Brews (young men 20s and 30s small group), Young Women's Bible Study (20 Somethings), Survivors of Suicide Support Group, and Book Club. Wedding Coordinator, Pam Tucker, is helpful to those planning marriage in a beautiful, traditional sanctuary. Periodic Get Acquainted Coffees are provided for newcomers to meet the pastors and hear about HPPC's vision, values, and missions in the community with opportunities to ask questions with no obligation to join the church.
