One should be aware in attending this church as when I first went to this church, the people seemed so happy and they had no problems.  They never discussed any issues that they were going through as evidenced by the pastors down to the branch ministry leaders.  They also were not friendly to everyone and therefore, some people have felt like an outcast at this place due to the 'popularity' and 'cliques' of this church.  My hope and prayer for this church is that they will see how they have treated some people and that they will change their behaviors to make this church a more friendly and loving church to everyone in the surrounding communities.

This is an awesome church.  The people are warm, self-sacrificing, humble and love God.  Pastor Cory is a great leader and a man who loves the Lord and treasures his family.  I can not say enough about this church.  God is truly worshipped and glorified here.

two such different takes on one church in the same day... I wonder what the experience would be for me, a total outsider, were I to walk through the doors this morning...?

Matt, it depends on how you're perceived at this church.  If you're look a certain way, they will retreat you like royalty, but if you go out of the box, they will treat you like an outcast.  I was also 'spiritually' abused by a church leader when he made a statement saying that I was still being punished by God for a sin that was committed as a kid.

The msgs in my opinion have gotten 'superficial' over the years.

All I can say is for you to check it out yourself.  I am only giving you a glimpse of what the experience was like for me who was there from the inception until I got smart enough and left it for my own good.  I was on a downward spiral and would be completely in the 'abyss' IF God had not rescued me and gotten me out of that church when He did.

Let me add one more comment: people there DON'T allow you to be adults.  The church leaders are the grown ups and the rest of the congregation are the kids.  They don't allow you to ever grow up and be equal to them b/c in their eyes, you are not equal to them in leadership skills, biblical knowledge, etc.  Not only that, but when you leave the church and then, post your concerns, complaints, etc about that church, they then go to someone who they believe you will listen to and ask that person to do their 'dirty' work for them.  What?  Are we in high school again?  They do not have the 'guts' to confront you on their own.  Not only that, but when one was at their church, they were not supportive and now, that you leave their church and actually have something to say about how you were treated, they actually care?  NOT!!!  All I can say is be careful of a place where they don't care about you until you leave their church and then, say negative things b/c of how they marginalized you from the very beginning....

At first, this church appears to be solid, as evidenced by the teaching and worship.  As the years have gone by, the preaching has become slightly less than one's liking and the worship is just okay.

The people are in their cliques and unless you attend that church with someone who is involved in a clique or a ministry, one may not feel as if they belong there.  One has to make an effort to get to others because otherwise, one can feel lost in a big church.

Also, they don't emphasize serving as a main priority.  It is true as the adage says: 20% does 80% of the work.  In this environment, I can see where that would be the case due to the same people serving in different capacities within ministries.  As an observer, though, one could see how only their friends will ask other people within their cliques to help out with a project or ministry.  This church needs to extend an invitation for service to everyone who attends their church services.  Otherwise, people may become burnt out of serving in too many ministries.

One advice for this church is that they set up a welcoming ministry for all those who come for the first time.  The church leaders should be involved in this process, so that those who are new to the church can meet these pastors because otherwise, the pastors appear to be too busy and too involved in their own lives to get to know the new people that come to their church.

The article is very good, I like it very much. Here I learned a lot, then I will pay more attention to you.
