A great place for both faith and thought
Brookmeade has long been a church that engages in issues in the community. It is a place that encourages faith and entertains thought. Rev. Linda White does a great job engaging current issues reflected by biblical wisdom. I wish it were larger and could have a bigger Sunday School and a larger music program. It would grow if more people gave it a try. It has a clear liberal slant, but makes no such demand of its members. This church welcomes people regardless of race, class, ability, sexual orientation, origin, finances. It is a place for thinking people to join the conversation and grow their faith.

Rev. White does great work both at the Hillwood church home and in the community. She is not as rigidly dogmatic in the UCC denominational trends as ex-minister Dan. Unlike old minister, Linda is more tolerant of divergent religious opinions and moderate social stands. Of course the UCC denomination nationally is known as a leftist presence in the religious community. Unfortunately this congregation is a tiny older upper middle class white group, albeit which is attempting to diversity by drawing more blacks and other people of color. Their outreach attempts in the community may eventually draw more diversity and dilute the white hegemony.
