Large church (3000+), Baptist like, will accept infant baptism.      Senior Pastor is a good teacher.  No big egos for him.  Congregation love and respect him and the other pastors.      Music is boring CCM.      They are friendly like most evangical churches. Yes people will meet you at the door, but after that you will have to be assertive if you want to meet and connect with others.

Fundamental Baptist Church. Under 200 people. Music was power by organ and piano. We did hymns which is a refreshing break from CCM. Preaching was like you would expect: Direct, upfront, forceful, a bit opinionated. We could use more of this in our Evangelical Churches. Usually these kinds of churches are very friendly. This church maybe going liberal. It was more like an Evangelical church. I was a guest there , if I wanted to meet or connect with anybody I needed to pick up the ball and run with it.

Small evangelical church. Music is CCM (Boring), however it is a grass roots kind of thing. You don't have to be a pro to be part of the music team.. It is great to see Junior Highers do there real thing of worship. It helps my worship. Three people greeted me at the door, great. However once you got inside it was typical friendly, which means their is not much connecting. One part that was nice was at the end of the sermon, Pastor Scott makes a habit of having a 2 to 3 minutes of mediation and reflextion time regarding the sermon. Great way to make the WORD come alive in me.

Reform Baptist, part of the Acts 29/Mars Hill type. Good preaching, singing was a refreshing break from CCM. Too loud for my wife. GREAT!!! information table and coffee set-up. Neat tables set up to connect with people. We sat at these tables and then>>>>> OUCH!! Other then the Pastor not a single person talk to, shook a hand, or even said a word to us. OUCH!! Outreach program was excellent. Such a good idea we participated in it. A great way to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Evangelical, Sound Doctrine, Music - refreshing break from CCM, singing? - people did not seem to get into it much. Much like Mars Hill Ballard.  Good Expereince Good mix of ages, except they have a boat load of babies. Lots of crying and fussing babies in the service.  What was cool, was that it seem to be all right with everyone else with the babies acting up and the parents getting up and down.  WAY TO GO! Here is where I have a problem. In fact most Evangelical churches seem to have this problem.

Hi Jim, We have talked about this problem in the past.   It runs rampant in our evagelical and missional churches.  Even more sad is trying to get people to see the problem. ...

Interesting observation. I know of two outstanding churches in this area. However, both have been in the area for over 15 years and hardly over 100. What say you?
